#WISDOMWEDNESDAY WITH LOOP - SEPTEMBER '25
The Good, The Bad, and The Greenwashed
Welcome back to #WisdomWednesday. We took a break in August, but the world of sustainable fashion, unsurprisingly, did not. Let’s get you caught up on the headlines that made us cheer, cringe, and rethink what "doing good" really means.
👎 The Ugly: The Plastic Treaty Fell Apart (Again)

While we were enjoying the sunshine, world leaders were in Geneva failing - again - to finalize a global treaty to end plastic pollution. This isn’t just political gridlock; it’s a catastrophic failure of ambition that kicks the can down the road while the fashion industry continues to churn out virgin polyester (aka plastic) garments destined for landfill or incineration. It’s exactly why we do what we do at Loop: turn discarded plastic bottles into swimwear, because waiting for world leaders to solve this crisis is not a strategy. The takeaway? We can’t wait for legislation. Change has to start with us - and in our wardrobes.

🤨 The Confusing: Princess Polly is a… B Corp?

In a move that left many sustainability advocates scratching their heads, ultra-fast-fashion brand Princess Polly was certified as a B Corporation. Yes, you read that right. While B Corp status is meant to signal a company meets high standards of social and environmental performance, this certification has sparked a crucial debate: Can a brand built on hyper-consumption ever be truly sustainable? This feels less like a milestone and more like a masterclass in loophole exploitation. It’s a stark reminder that certifications are tools, not trophies - and we must look beyond the logo.
💫 The Good: Stars (and Friends) Share the Spotlight
Now for the good stuff - the proof that circularity isn’t a fantasy; it’s happening. On the global stage, Julia Roberts and Amanda Seyfried turned heads at the Venice Film Festival by sharing outfits, proving that even A-list glamour doesn’t require endless newness.

But you don’t need a stylist to make this work. My favorite story this summer? I handed off a six-year-old dress to my best friend, who is now giving it a glorious second life traveling the world for six months. After that, it comes back to me. That’s sustainability in action: emotional, practical, and powerfully simple.

🏆 The Loop Win: We Made The List!
In some truly uplifting news, we were absolutely thrilled to be featured by Sustainably Kind Living in their guide to the 30 Best Affordable & Sustainable Kids Clothing Brands For 2025. This recognition, from a platform that deeply values authenticity, means the world to us. It’s a testament to our incredible community that believes in wearing their values - literally. Thank you.
The Bottom Line
This summer showed us that the fight for a better fashion future is messy, confusing, and full of both setbacks and beautiful, human-sized victories. The path forward isn’t through perfect choices, but through conscious ones: questioning certifications, championing circularity, and supporting brands that are genuinely doing the work.
Stay curious,
